Wintertree Thesaurus Engine for Windows. Comprehensive thesaurus database and API for Windows applications. Wintertree Thesaurus Engine for Windows provides everything you need to add a full thesaurus or synonym finder capability to Microsoft Windows applications you develop. Wintertree Thesaurus Engine is compatible with most DLL-capable environments, including Visual C++ (including MFC), Borland C++, Visual Basic, Delphi, and MS Access. Features Comprehensive thesaurus databases included. Comes with three thesaurus database types: Large, general purpose: Contains about 5,900 word categories and 36,000 unique key terms. Categories contain a broad selection of nouns (singular and plural), verbs (present tense, past tense, and present participle), adjectives, and adverbs. Suitable for interactive synonym and antonym finding. Small, general purpose: Contains about 5,900 word categories and 12,400 unique key terms. Categories contain a broad selection of nouns (singular and plural), verbs (present tense, past tense, and present participle), adjectives, and adverbs. This thesaurus is similar in structure to the large general-purpose thesaurus, but the terms contained by each category are more closely related. Consequently, categories typically contain fewer terms. This thesaurus is better suited for use in automatic situations such as expansion of terms in a search engine than the large general-purpose thesaurus. Product name: Hierarchal thesaurus containing names of consumer products such as one might find in a department store or shopping mall. Very few brand names are used. Brand names appear only where they are popularly synonymous with a particular product type (e.g., "Kleenex" and "Walkman"). Contains about 1,000 categories (product types) and 7,900 unique product names. Each thesaurus database is included in separate American, British, and Canadian dialects. Built-in user interface. You can invoke our built-in thesaurus dialog from your Windows application by adding just one statement to your program. You can specify the key word to look up when the dialog appears, and access the synonym selected by the user when the dialog closes. Use the Thesaurus dialog to look up key words and select word categories and synonyms. Users can enable/disable the display of antonyms (opposites), look up suggested alternatives for misspelled or unknown key words, and get on-line help. Double-clicking on a synonym causes it to be looked up as a key word. Previously looked-up key words can be re- selected via a drop-down list. User thesaurus.
